MEMBERS of the 40 Degreez youth centre in Farnham got into the party spirit as they celebrated their 10th anniversary last month with a youth festival for young people and their families.

The event which was the second of its kind kept visitors entertained with live music, a bouncy castle, talent shows, an array of stalls, hands-on activities for toddlers and children, and tasty treats which included a barbecue, healthy wraps, cakes and ice-creams.

Festival-goers were treated to music from The Harry Baker Band, Brandon Alvis of Lee, Louie Davis and Against the World, a home grown band nurtured through the ‘Our Space Club’, which is held every Friday at the 40 Degreez Centre in Dogflud Way.

The festival was supported by Farnham Lions who provided a demonstration of their defibrillation machine. They will also be attending the weekly clubs in the new academic year to give further demos.

Prizes for the various competitions, including the popular cake decoration event, were sponsored by the centre’s retail partner White Stuff in The Borough, as well as by 40 Degreez trustees and local charitable organisations such as The Lions, Hedgehogs, Round Table, the Chamber of Commerce and the 41 Club – members of the latter also supported the event with volunteers.

Other organisations included Creation Station arts and crafts, Farnham Boxing Club and The Big Draw.

Eve Baker, the centre’s admin, marketing and fundraising manager, said: “It was a great day enjoyed by everyone who came.

“We would all like to say a big thanks to White Stuff – who has been our partner for the past three to four years.

“They helped out massively with the competition prizes which were fabulous – and they have supported us a lot over the years, we just want to say thank you.”
