Hi Alexa: what’s the sermon for today?
That’s the question that worshippers could be asking as a woman from south Manchester has answered the prayers of churchgoers in North Farnham.
Rev Alexa Russell has been appointed Rector of the Parish of Badshot Lea and Hale, filling a position that’s been vacant for more than a year.
She is hopeful of moving this summer with her partner, Johanna and son, Leo, as she is currently working as an assistant curate in the Wythenshawe Team.
Rev Russell said: “I’m delighted to have been appointed as Rector of Badshot Lea and Hale.
“My family and I have already felt such a warm welcome from the Parish and we can’t wait to get stuck in.”
Stella Wiseman, Curate, said: “Having Alexa as the new rector will mean that there will be more opportunities to serve the 14,000 people who live here.
“At the moment, I am painfully aware that we are not able to give as much pastoral care to people as we would like to do.
“Having a new rector will take the pressure off some of us, as all the existing ministry team are voluntary and cannot sustain working such long hours.”
“She will also be able to help us see what the next steps are for this wonderful, creative parish in North Farnham.”
The Parish of Badshot Lea and Hale covers St John’s, St George’s and St Mark’s Church.
