Female choir Ancora lit up a dark and wet autumn night with their singing at the Church of the Holy Rood in Holybourne.
Their concert was a delightful mixture of solemnity and humour ranging from Handel to sea shanties in a programme chosen by conductor Lii Carr to reflect the lives and times of the Queen and Prince Philip.
The choir excelled in colour, harmony and joy, accompanied by Jane Palmer and featuring soloists Rosie Carr (cello), Carlie Bentley (flute) and Laura Maria Muurisepp Gutierrez (violin). Speaking of the soloists, an audience member said: “Singly they were magical, and together inspiring.”
Over £300 was raised for the Southern Domestic Abuse Service.
