YEAR 4 pupils at South Farnham School took a trip back in time when they were paid a visit by an Anglo-Saxon warrior.
The history workshops, organised as part of the Year 4 history curriculum, gave classes the opportunity to imagine what life would have been like had they been living in Farnham over 1,000 years ago.
Anglo-Saxon customs, language and battle technique were all learned by the children, who delighted in trying on clothing and handling weapons.
Naomi Wagner, Year 4 co-ordinator, described the visit as a great opportunity for the children to see history with their own eyes.
“Having somebody dressed as an Anglo-Saxon warrior come into school and start talking in Anglo-Saxon to the children while brandishing an axe certainly helps history to come alive,” she said.
“We absolutely love welcoming our warrior into school and it has become one of the highlights of the year.”
