A WOMAN in her 70s was punched in the face and her husband, aged in his 80s, was hit with a crowbar in “particularly nasty” aggravated burglary in Dockenfield in the early hours of this morning (14 May).
Hampshire Constabulary are appealing for information following the incident at 1am, when a man knocked at the couple’s front door and pushed his way in.
He demanded money from their safe and fled the scene with a sum of money, including euros.
The couple were taken to Frimley Park Hospital for their injuries. They have since been discharged.
The suspect was described as being white, aged in his early 20s and about six foot tall. He had his face covered, was wearing gloves and he was described as well-spoken
Detective Sergeant Louise Mills said: “This was a particularly nasty attack against an elderly couple in their own home.
“I would like to hear from anyone who may have seen somebody matching the description of the suspect in Dockenfield around the time of the incident, or anyone else that has any information, as it could be vital to our investigation.”
