HASLEMERE Bookshop hosted a sell-out talk by award-winning natural history author Patrick Barkham (centre) about his latest book, ‘Islander’.

Bookshop manager Sue Adsett said: “Patrick, who lives in Norfolk and is also a Guardian journalist, gave an informative and entertaining talk about his journey around some of Britain’s smaller islands. A large audience gathered at The Georgian Hotel to enjoy amusing anecdotes about his experiences and encounters, including one memorable passage about his family’s seasickness on a choppy crossing to the Scilly Isles.”

Signed copies of the book are also available from the shop at Causewayside, in the High Street.
