THANKS to extremely skilled staff who have created an environment that is an “excellent” bridge between pre- school and school, Barracudas Activity Day Camps in Farnham has been awarded an ‘outstanding’ rating by Ofsted.

Inspectors said that the company selects enthusiastic, high-calibre, well-qualified and experienced staff to manage the club and the early years provision.

And that staff have high expectations for each child and the teaching skills to help children realise their full potential, as well as showing the children respect for their individual efforts and ideas.

The report also stated that children become increasingly self-confident as they apply existing skills to manage new challenges, make new friends and move around new environments.

On visiting the school inspectors also discovered that “children feel extremely safe and quickly gain the confidence to initiate conversations and express their thoughts and feelings with people they are just getting to know exceptionally well”.

Although the camp has been awarded an ‘outstanding’ rating, there is still work to be done. Inspectors noted that to further improve the quality of the early years provision, the team should amend information-sharing strategies with parents to reflect the rapid personal achievements children make during their time at the club.

“We are thrilled with the Ofsted grade, to be formally recognised for the work and input for the camp is rewarding. The children have such a great time at Barracudas Farnham, so many activities and the care and welfare is second to none,” a spokesperson for the main office said.

While staff added that they are all “absolutely over the moon with our ‘outstanding’ grade. We all worked very hard for it and the hard work has paid off. The children thoroughly enjoy their time on camp and this showed during our inspection.

“We are extremely proud of our staff for their efforts and commitment over the summer. We would also like to say thank you to Edgeborough School for providing us with their amazing facilities and supporting us during our time here. An outstanding summer- one to remember”.

Barracudas operate at Edgeborough in Farnham during the Easter and summer holidays offering a range of exciting and fun activities for four-a-half-year-olds to 14 year olds, Monday to Friday, from 8am to 6pm.

Fencing, archery, basketball, football and quad bikes are just a few activities with swimming available as well in the summer. Anything from one day to all season can be booked and offers are often available.
