A BBC weather blunder has caused quite a stir on social media as the error says the town is facing “Hurricane-force winds.”

The error says for the next week Farnham will face 15,389 mph wind - 15 times the speed of the Earth’s rotation.

The mercury has also risen to unprecedented highs in the Midlands with Nottingham melting in a 404c heatwave.

Meteorological forecasting company DTN which supplies BBC Weather with data is aware of the issue but has not said when it will be fixed.

Other weather apps are available, of course, and there’s always traditional methods like and looking out the window and the stance of cows.
