AFTER a one-year hiatus, the Friends of Beacon Hill School’s annual fireworks night is back.

This year the event will be held on Saturday, November 6 at the Hindhead Playing Fields in Tilford Road.

Gates will open at 4pm.

The event is primarily targeted at families with young children. After the bonfire is lit, fireworks will be set off just after 5pm.

The fireworks display is professionally choreographed to music and run by Phase One Fireworks.

Bring & Braai will serve food before and during the event, but everything else is organised and run entirely by volunteers, with help and support from local businesses.

Stalls this year include mulled wine, hot chocolate with marshmallows, glows, popcorn, doughnuts and other refreshments, as well as a bar run by Hindhead Cricket Club.

The new Reception pupils at Beacon Hill Primary School made the Guy Fawkes for the bonfire this year, under the watchful eye of their teacher Jessica Edy.

Reception teacher Miss Edy said: “The children had lots of fun making the Guy Fawkes and were very excited. They also learned about Guy Fawkes and had a visit from the fire service and were taught about fire safety.”

Warren Powell Richards are sponsoring the event this year, and the Guy Fawkes is on display in their window and will be until the day before the event.

The fireworks night is the biggest event in the Friends of Beacon Hill School’s calendar.

All funds raised will be used to enhance the learning environment of the pupils at Beacon Hill Primary School.

Advanced tickets can only be bought online this year through Ticket Lab.
