John Virgo will be the star turn at the Farnham & District Billiards & Snooker League's presentation evening on Friday, June 7 at Lindford WMC.

He will be presenting the annual trophies, playing snooker against the league's top players and giving a display of his famous trick shots and impersonations.

John Virgo ('JV' to his friends) is one of snooker's most amusing characters and has gained national fame as the co-host, with comedian Jim Davidson, of BBC's 'Big Break' game show.

A former chairman of the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association, Virgo is also a regular commentator and expert on the BBC's top snooker broadcasts, including, of course, the Embassy World Championships.

The UK champion in 1979, Virgo never really enjoyed the success on the pro-circuit that his undoubted talent suggested he would. However, since retiring as a full-time player, he has emerged as a popular television personality.

The evening is open to club members and bona-fide guests. Anyone wishing to come along and meet John Virgo, should contact the Secretary, 23 Farnham Road, Fleet, Hants, GU13 9HZ. Tickets are on sale at £10 (cheques payable to F&DB&S League).
