BRIGHTWELL Tennis Club will have five courts if moved as part of the East Street redevelopment, Waverley Council has confirmed.
The council has also offered a new clubhouse if the club moves to a proposed site behind Farnham Sports Centre.
The club currently has four courts and had been assured by the council it would be given facilities as good, if not better, if relocated as part of the multi-million pound redevelopment.
Captain Peter Burden, the Waverley councillor leading the redevelopment drive, told a meeting of the full council on Tuesday night: "We're seeing the first steps of the East Street regeneration. The tennis club is very happy."
Club chairman Sarah Barker said: "It's too early to comment yet but Waverley have been consulting us throughout. We have a thriving youth section and our courts are used by the U3A (University of the Third Age). We want to keep these amenities available. Ideally we'd like six courts but the council can only replicate what we've got at the moment."
