A hammer blow has been reversed in an East Hampshire village as a much-loved tool shop has been snapped up.
Farnham Tool Hire have cemented their place in Lindford as they’ve taken over the Altis store on Liphook Road.
Villagers and many tradespeople were devastated when the shop closed after Christmas with the loss of a dozen jobs.
The move ended 43 years of trading in the village near Bordon with the impact of lengthy road closures and SSEN work in 2024 being blamed for its demise.
The work was part of a continuing bid to lay new cabling to safeguard and secure future energy supplies.
Thankfully, the shutters have gone back up and a few familiar faces are back behind the counter, even if the name has changed.
Oliver Kemp, who previously ran Altis, is thrilled to be serving the tradespeople of Lindford, Bordon and East Hampshire once again with the shop now offering even more services than before.
He said: “We’re going to be doing everything we used to and more, as we’ll be able to offer all the services that Farnham Tool Hire offers.
“The signs are going to change but some of the old staff will be coming back and we’re looking forward to the future.”
Mr Kemp added: “We just want to welcome the trades back, open the doors again and get all the customers back again.
“It’s really good to be back and we think it’s good news.”
The store’s existing layout will remain with the new owners also confirming the acquisition on their Facebook page.
They wrote: “Farnham Tool and Plant Hire would like to announce the taking over of the Altis site in Lindford.”
