A student at the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) in Farnham has designed a birthday card that will go on sale nationwide at selected BP M&S Simply Food sites.

Claire Brown’s winning design was one of 60 submissions to a brief set for UCA’s first-year graphic design students by Farnham-based company Card Connection.

“I was excited and shocked that they chose my design,” said Claire.

“Having my work in the public domain gives me a sense of pride. It was great to tackle a brief from an actual company – it showed us how they work, and what we can expect when we start working in the industry.”

Card Connection’s brief tasked students with creating a birthday card for people aged between 25 and 50 years.

Kelly Courtenay, Card Connection’s creative director, said: “What attracted us to Claire’s design was that it felt like it was doing something different.”
