WHITEHILL & Bordon’s new £10million leisure centre was set to throw open its doors to the public this week – before the prime minister’s announcement put a spanner in the works on Saturday.

Instead the Everyone Active centre’s ‘open week’ has been delayed at least a month pending the end of the second lockdown, hopefully in early December.

It means the only people to have seen inside the new centre to date are those constructing the building, a scattering of council leaders, and the Herald – as evidenced by these photos taken two weeks before its aborted opening.

Once completed, the state-of-the-art facility will feature a six-lane 25-metre swimming pool, teaching pool, 80-station gym and two large fitness studios including a dedicated spin studio.

Similar to Alton Sports Centre, glass is used to good effect – flooding the centre with light and providing great views of Whitehill & Bordon’s new town centre.
