Children and their parents from the Bourne ward were invited by Deputy Mayor Cllr George Murray and Deputy Mayoress Jacoba Murray to join them in creating a plant display for the “It Is Your Neighbourhood” category part of Farnham in Bloom.

The children dug holes, planted sunflowers, coloured and wrote their names on the plant tubs in order to remember the work they did creating the display.

Deputy Mayor George Murray said “ We wanted to get school children involved and provide an opportunity to meet each other”

The display was created in the garden of the Deputy Mayor and Mayoress and then relocated to its current location at Bourne Crossroads. This was to allow the children to plant, dig and colour safely avoiding the busy traffic at the Crossroads.

Volunteers are helping to water and maintain the display before it will be judged at lunchtime on 1 July.
