A man has been handed a £100 fine after admitting assaulting a police officer in Farnham last year.
George Aquilina Francis Austin, 29, of Southwood Road in Shalden, near Alton, initially denied the offence but changed his plea to guilty and was convicted at Guildford Magistrates Court on January 31.
It comes after the court heard he assaulted a police office “acting in the exercise of his functions... by beating” in Farnham on January 4, 2022.
Austin’s fine was increased because the victim of the assault was an emergency worker.
He was also ordered to pay a £34 surcharge to fund victim services and £310 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.
