PUPILS took part in a day of learning about democracy and British values, with a special visit from a north-east Hampshire MP.
Crondall Primary School hosted their first Democracy Day on Friday, September 20, and welcomed MP Ranil Jayawardena for a morning assembly and lessons on the history of democracy.
Children were invited to wear red, white and blue, taking part in voting for school leaders with ballot boxes, and getting the chance to offer questions to Mr Jayawardena in a Q&A session.
Headteacher Jo Leatham said: “It was fantastic that Ranil Jayawardena was able to open our special day and meet with our new school captains and vice captains – it was such a wonderful experience for them.
“Our polling station gave every child the opportunity to vote for eco warriors, school council and house captains as part of our new young leaders programme.”
