Visitors to Farnham town centre can now have the chance to experience a little taste of Greece and the Mediterranean thanks to the rebranding of a Downing Street restaurant.
The eatery, formally known as the Downing Street Brasserie, is now known as the Downing Street Greek and is a family-run restaurant right in the heart of Farnham.
From Souvlakis to Moussaka the menu offers fresh and tasty food that will culturally enrich diners through a range of flavours and textures and you can choose to dine in-house or sample a takeaway.
The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner every day except Sunday, when it is lunch only. There are two and three course set menus on offer as well as à la carte options that should mean every palate is catered for.
This reporter took a visit to the new restaurant to try it out for himself for a spot of lunch. The dining room started to get busy by around 1pm with more and more hungry diners coming in looking for a taste of Greece.
As you enter the restaurant I was kindly met at the door by staff waiting to seat diners but it is always best to reserve ahead if you want to guarantee your place. I was seated in a calm and relaxed setting and my eye was caught by the repurposed Singer sewing tables that are used to seat guests.
The menu is chock-full of delicious-sounding Greek options with delights such as Soutzoukakia, Bifteki and Baklava on offer guaranteeing you a tantalising meal from starter through to dessert.
Alongside your food there are a range of drinks on offer including Greek Mythos Lager and wines from the Macedonia region of Greece. There are also a range of non-alcoholic options.
Overall the food was delicious and filling and the service was great.
