ALTON’S Cardiac Rehab Centre played host to children from town schools who had completed the Staywell Schools’ Campaign.
As part of the school curriculum, the children have been learning about how the heart works, the benefits of exercise, and nutrition and how food choices effect our hearts.
At Rehab, teams from Bentworth and St Lawrence, Alton, took part in the final five activities which included running, skipping, star jumps, step-ups and hula-hooping, before being presented with a ‘Staywell School’ Wall Plaque to take back for their school reception.
Centre manager Denise Ellis said: “We thought it very fitting that our 100-year-old exerciser should make the presentations to the children on our behalf.”
After the presentation the children and their parents were provided with refreshments, which included a healthy fruit platter provided by Alton Sainsbury’s.
To end an enjoyable afternoon the children were given goody bags from Everyone Active promoting after-school activities at Alton Sports Centre and including sugar-free treats and a balloon.
This event was sponsored by Metnor Construction as part of a corporate social responsibility agreement during the build of the new Alton Sports Centre.
