The ballot is now open for members of the public to request tickets for the Farnham Civic Christmas Carol Service on Wednesday, December 6 at St Andrew’s Church.

The doors will open at 7pm for the traditional service which starts at 7.30pm and is hosted by the Mayor of Farnham. It will include Christmas readings, and carols and music by the highly acclaimed Farnham Youth Choir (FYC).

Half of the available tickets will be assigned through a free-entry ballot. The remaining half will be distributed to local organisations and charities that have supported the community throughout the year.

To participate in the ballot, simply complete and return the form on Page 6 of this week's Herald by no later than Friday, November 24. You can request up to two tickets. Please note that this event is very popular so no tickets will be available on the door.

FYC is now in its 40th year and has developed into a family of choirs that support children to achieve extraordinary things through a love of singing.

As part of its 40th anniversary celebrations, in July 2024, FYC is competing in the 13th Interkultur World Choir Games in Auckland, New Zealand.

The World Choir Games is the world’s biggest choir competition based on the Olympic ideals.

Since the World Choir Games’ inception in 2000, 13 choirs have represented the UK with FYC being one of only four to have won a gold medal.

The Games are a wonderful opportunity for FYC to represent the UK, and Farnham, on the world stage and fundraising is taking place to ensure all members can participate.
