The Farnham Public Art Trust (FPAT) will be hosting a presentation on Farnham’s public art at the Memorial Hall in West Street on May 17 at 7pm.
The presentation will be given by local historian Roy Waight, who is well known for his books and entertaining presentations on Farnham’s history.
In the talk, Roy will cover the well-known sculptures around the town and introduce people to many that most people will not be aware of. He will also talk about how these pieces reflect the heritage and history of the town.
Farnham’s public art is a key feature of the town. It has been established over many centuries, more recently by individuals, organisations and the councils that are active in the town today. FPAT, as a civic trust, has a central role in encouraging new works and in preserving the existing pieces.
The audience will have an opportunity to ask questions, including any relating to the recent installation of the Hand’s Turn in Riverside Walk, which has been in the local and national news recently.
This event is a joint venture between FPAT and The Farnham Society. There will be a charge of £10 on entry, which includes light refreshments.
