Wylds Farm near Liss will be thrumming to the sounds of jazz in Hampshire’s first Jazz and Gin event on June 15 from 5.30pm to 10.30pm.

East Meon jazz band East of Meon will team up with Petersfield gin specialist Dampney’s Remarkable Drinks for the event.

It promises to be a night full of jazz, from the canons of such greats as Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock and Freddie Hubbard to the upbeat Latin grooves of Stevie Wonder and Santana, to get you moving on the dance floor.

The band East of Meon consists of keyboard player Marcus Hill, double bassist Andy Coe, conga player Nigel Hosking and drummer Paul Canton, and is led by founder and East Meon saxophonist Kati Whitaker.

The band was formed five years ago, when one resident of East Meon asked Kati to form a band to play at the village fair. Since then they have performed across the south and London, playing at various private events and other jazz and fizz festivals, including Hambledon Vineyard.

Kati said: “We are so excited to have the opportunity to play at Wylds Farm. This is the first time we have organised an event like this and we are hoping that it attracts jazz lovers across the region. Swing by for an evening of great music, good vibes and the finest English gin - and don't forget to bring your dancing shoes!”
