THE FARNHAM Flower Festival is celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee this weekend (May 14-15) at St John’s Church, Hale, with more than 50 entries from local groups, churches and other faith groups, businesses, artists, schools and individuals.

The festival will be open from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, and midday to 4pm on Sunday.

Stella Wiseman, one of the organisers, said: “We’ve got some fantastic entries this year, many with a Jubilee theme.

“You can look out for a Coronation Tea display; a floral crown; red, white and blue displays; the National Anthem in floral musical notes; even a Jubilee chicken!

“There will be a floral canopy by House of Eclare, and art, craft, poetry and glorious displays from, among others, Badshot Lea Bloomers, Farnborough College of Technology, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Badshot Lea Village Infant School, Hale Methodist Church, Farnham Heath End School, artist Susie Lidstone, Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, The Ridgeway School, the Scouts and Florescence, an award-winning floristry business based in Farnham who are kindly sponsoring the event.

“It’s going to be an uplifting, creative festival where, along with enjoying all the displays you can listen to live music and eat homemade cake. What more could you want for an early summer weekend?”

Entry is just £1 and includes a prize draw to win a voucher for a meal at local restaurant Heaven’s Kitchen, and there will be a separate raffle with prizes including a family day out at the Weald and Downland Museum and money to spend at Squires of Badshot Lea.
