Well-known Farnham-based performer, musician, and songwriter Vic Cracknell has an exciting few months ahead, with a series of gigs lined up across the area.
It all kicks off this Thursday (April 17) when Vic performs a free-entry solo gig at The Wheatsheaf in Farnham.
For those looking to get involved, he’ll have a song request list with over 200 tracks to choose from.
Next, his Vic Cracknell Swing Band will be taking to the stage at Crookham Memorial Hall, near Fleet, on Saturday, April 19.
For anyone who’s enjoyed his performances at events like Music in the Meadow on Farnham Bandstand, this gig promises to be another treat. The band will serve up a lively mix of rock'n'roll, swing, pop, and Latin tunes.
“The music is great for dancing or simply tapping your toes,” says Vic. He’ll be on vocals and piano, with Tony Wright on saxophone, Joe Yeadon on double bass, and Tom Vincent on drums.
Expect to hear classics from the likes of Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Frank Sinatra, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Michael Bublé, from 8.15pm to 10.45pm. Tickets are £15 and can be purchased online at www.boogaloopromotions.com or at the door.
In addition to his band performances, Vic has been a staple of the local music scene for years. He hosts a monthly open mic night at the Bat and Ball in Farnham, held on the first Thursday of each month.
Vic's contribution to the community was recognised in 2020, when he received the 'Services to Farnham' award from Farnham Town Council.
For those looking for more live music, Vic's popular free weekly Friday night sessions return to Birdies in Farnham, starting at 6 pm. Birdies is located at Farnham Park Golf Club just off Folly Hill.
Looking further ahead, Vic’s swing band will perform again at Birdies on Friday, May 2. He’ll also be hosting a ticketed summer jazz night at Birdies on Saturday, June 28, and will perform at the showcase night at the Fox and Pelican in Grayshott on June 22.
