Alton-based choir Luminosa will perform The American Connection at St Peter’s Church in Petersfield on July 13 at 7pm.

Performing works by recognised American composers, including Leonard Bernstein and Aaron Copland, the concert will feature performances by the 80-strong main choir, the auditioned chamber choir and Luminosa Young Voices.

Jazz quintet The George Shrapnell Ensemble, which includes saxophone, clarinet and trumpet, will perform alongside them on works such as West Side Story and Come Fly With Me. The choir will also perform unaccompanied works such as the incredibly moving Shenandoah.

This is a concert to give the audience a spring in their step, put them in the mood for summer and provide them with an evening of joy-filled pure escapism.

Artistic director Rebekah Abbott said: “This is truly our best summer programme yet; joyful, exuberant and full of the most incredible playing and singing you will hear this year. We cannot wait to bring this concert to Petersfield.”

There will be a retiring collection for Asthma and Lung UK. For tickets - priced £15 adults, £5 under-12s - visit www.luminosamusic.com
