Luminosa Voices’ most recent concert was yet another triumph.

Combining the forces of the chamber choir and the 80-strong main chorus, plus organist Michael Higgins and Trinity Laban soloists, their performance at All Saints Church in Odiham raised the roof with a rendition of Mozart’s Mass in C Minor and selected other works.

Opening with a stunning chamber choir performance, including Rachmaninov’s Bogoroditse Devo, the sound was well balanced, contrasting and beautifully pitched. Of particular significance was the exquisite tuning, lyrically connected singing and all eyes on the conductor.

Leading both choirs, Rebekah Abbott’s direction of Mozart’s Mass in C Minor was as good as has been heard in the best national venues. The choir rose to the challenge, performing with dexterity, excellent tuning and focus, even in the intricate Sanctus and Agnus Dei.

The performance was well balanced and Michael Higgins provided a great opportunity to hear the mighty Odiham organ being put through its paces.

Of equal contribution were the soloists. Soprano Molly Joynson and bass Alex Hardy produced exquisite tone. Soprano Rachel Newberry provided beautiful soaring tones and completed the ensemble.

A retiring collection from the sell-out audience generated more than £400 for Asthma and Lung UK.
