Comedy fans are invited to celebrate the work of the University of Winchester alumni who will star in Biscuit Barrel: The 69 Sketch Show at the Theatre Royal Winchester on September 25 at 7.30pm.

This will be an extended version of the Biscuit Barrel troupe’s sell-out Edinburgh Fringe show as they return home to perform 85 sketches in one evening as part of the Winchester Comedy Festival.

The troupe’s trademark is rapid-fire sketches featuring absurd characters, slapstick and wordplay at breakneck speed. The show includes sketches about enraged self-checkout machines and slapstick routines told through beatbox.

The Biscuit Barrel troupe was founded at the University of Winchester in 2016 by James Horscroft as part of a drama project while he was studying there and it has been going ever since, with the troupe building a reputation on the comedy circuit.

The troupe still features a number of the university’s alumni, including group leader Horscroft, songwriter Capriella Monique and co-writer Daryl Reader.

There will be a post-show question and answer session for those who want to find out more about getting their work on the festival circuit.
