A relationship that’s hundreds of years in the making will be explored during a walk and talk about the linked histories of Farnham and Aldershot next Sunday (September 15)
Character assessments will be part of the Aldershot and All About it: A walk in the park with Marianne Young ambles that will begin at 11am and 1.15pm in Municipal Park, Aldershot.
Creators Samantha Jayne Hunt Stacey and Carolyn Drever have based the guided walks on the entertaining writing and observations of Marianne Young in 1857.
Her experiences of Aldershot Camp as it develops into a new town include plenty of cutting insights and gossip about the state of society and both Aldershot and Farnham.
Marianne wrote: “Farnham is not only one of the gates of Aldershot, but it may be regarded as its capital. At one time, whatever Aldershot wanted it got from Farnham.”
Aldershot and all about it will be presented by Torchlight Heritage, known for their out-of-hours tours of the county’s historic places with an Alton Ghost Tour on October 20.
Samantha and Carolyn will be at the performance for a Q&A session after the performance, details and free tickets are available by scrolling down at https://torchlighttours.com/events
