This year’s Ewshot pantomime, Puss in Boots, was a laugh-out-loud adventure with a unique spin on the classic tale.

The story concerned Dukey, the eponymous Puss in Boots, who needed to find the whereabouts of the chalice of truth, which was the key to stopping Ewshot from transforming into Crondall!

The villains, Smellfungus and Fustylugs, had stolen the chalice from the palace and then drank from it to gain magical powers.

Like any classic pantomime, there was plenty of audience interaction including “it’s behind you” and “oh no he/she didn’t”. There were also some unique gags, such as every time a duck or cockerel appeared onstage the audience had to shout “ducky ducky” or “cocky cocky”.

The characters Phillipe and Stiletto spent most of the show flirting with each other, but joined in to help Dukey and Tom catch Smellfungus and Fustylugs.

The Ewshot Neighbourhood Watch also turned up to help Dukey but. perhaps in a nod to real life, it seemed they were too busy chatting on their WhatsApp group chat to get anything done.

Crockery was continually smashed as the cast reminded everyone there is no sensible way to mail a tea set.

Several famous songs were performed adding to the fun and entertainment.

To wrap up the evening, Ewshot hosted its own royal wedding as Tom and Princess Sugar Honey tied the knot.

The pantomime was a great community event which saw the people of Ewshot thoroughly entertained, with everyone leaving with a smile on their faces before Christmas.
