An ultramarathon will be family affair for a Farnham man determined to raise money for a good cause close their hearts.

Gavin Brigstocke has some very special running mates as he will attempt the 50km Run to the Sea Bournemouth challenge with his brother and two cousins this weekend.

The quartet will push themselves to the limit for Cure Parkinsons this Saturday in support of Gavin’s father, Tim, and his uncle, Owen, who both live with the condition.

The latter pair and other members of the family will accompany Gavin, Anna, David and Daniel for the last kilometre of the journey.

The quartet smashed their original target of £2,000 and have now raised more than £3,300 for the charity.

Gavin said: “Our main motivation is the family connection we have to the condition.

“We have first-hand experience with how the condition can progress from diagnosis, but we’ve also seen the importance of remaining active and keeping moving.

“So the “Final K Moving Your Way” challenge that we’ll do together is really important to us all.

“We all live busy lives with jobs and families, so training has been a bit hit or miss. We’re not out to be breaking records but hoping that the family spirit and collective cause will keep us motivated and moving on the day.”
