Farnham’s town centre improvement works are progressing, with the next phase set to take place at the lower section of Downing Street, between Long Bridge and Lower Church Lane.
This transition will occur once the current works on The Borough are completed.

Despite the ongoing construction, Downing Street will remain open to traffic. However, lane closures and narrowing will be in place around the clock. No additional temporary traffic lights will be introduced, ensuring a steady traffic flow.
Pavements will remain accessible to pedestrians, and bus routes will not be affected. The work in this section is expected to last until May.
Further changes will be implemented over the summer when work at the junction of Long Bridge, Union Road, and Victoria Road is completed.
At that point, the bottom section of Downing Street will open to two-way traffic, enabling vehicles to enter and exit Waggon Yard car park without navigating the gyratory, circular-traffic system.
This marks a significant step in Farnham’s traffic improvements, as it will be the second section of the gyratory to transition to two-way traffic.
Once the works in The Borough are finished, vehicles will also be able to turn right out of Castle Street. Temporary traffic lights and pedestrian crossings will remain in place until permanent signals are installed later in the project.
Meanwhile, improvement works are also ongoing at Riverside Walk, between Brightwells Yard and the Riverside car parks.

A spokesperson for Surrey County Council said: “The town centre works in The Borough are due to end soon, with works moving to the bottom of Downing Street as soon as they're completed.”
