Farnham’s controversial A Hand’s Turn interactive sculptural installation has been under discussion again at Farnham Town Council.
The installation, a collection of golden cones designed to be touched and spun around, has attracted negative and positive comments since its appearance opposite Gostrey Meadow a year ago.
Although the sculptures were always intended to be temporary, Farnham Town Council had to apply for retrospective planning permission. However, the council agreed at its April 25 meeting that whatever the outcome of the application, the installation’s location will be further reviewed.
The sculptures were designed not only to be spun around but to be moved to other locations around the town. But after changes to planning rules, any future location will require planning consent.
A Hand’s Turn was designed by artists Natalie Bradwell and Livia Spinolo who entered a public competition conceived by the council, the UCA, Farnham Maltings and the Farnham Public Art Trust.
