Farnham Walking Festival is back from May 11 to June 2 and offers a programme of around 40 free walks celebrating the best of Farnham’s great outdoors.

New for 2024 is a series of ward walks hosted by Farnham town councillors. Residents are invited to join their local councillors for a walk on their patch. The walks will vary from ward to ward but are likely to include local places of interest and an opportunity to talk and get to know your elected representative in an informal setting.

Other highlights of the programme include ranger-led walks which will reveal the secrets of much-loved Farnham Park, Alice Holt, Caesar’s Camp, Rowhill Copse and Tice’s Meadow. There will also be a tree walk in Farnham town centre, walks for well-being and fundraising walks for local charities.

Councillor Kika Mirylees said: “Farnham is criss-crossed by a network of public footpaths, so walking is a great way to explore your local neighbourhood and see it with fresh eyes.

“Most of the walks do not require booking so you can decide on the day if you would like to take part.”

Farnham Walking Festival is sponsored by Kidd Rapinet Solicitors. The walks vary in length from gentle strolls to more strenuous hill walks and ten-mile hikes through the Surrey Hills. All walks are led by experts in their field and cover topics such as local community, art and creativity, nature and wildlife, history and heritage and walks for health.
