England’s first-world craft town is offering artists a unique opportunity to pass on their skills and inspire a new generation of makers and artists.

Farnham World Craft Town (FWCT) is offering a residency for one month during spring next year. Each artist in residence will be asked to create a piece inspired by their time in Farnham, which will form a special collection of local-made crafts.

Get ready to “throw” your name in the hat and get “fired up” as FWCT is prioritising artists specialising in ceramics.

Last year’s first artist-in-residence was glass, ceramic and mixed media artist Fiona Byrne from Ireland. Her artwork Things We Can Know, is the first in the collection to be displayed at the University of Creative Arts in Farnham.

The residency will cover travel, living, material and exhibition costs for the duration of the program.

After being introduced to artist and key figures in the town. The artist will be given space to develop their own ideas and start creating a body of work. FWCT encourages the artist in residence to work with a Farnham artist and use materials from the area where possible.

FWCT are accepting proposals from creatives at all stages of their development and are particularly interested in creators who want to experiment and innovate.

Applications are open until Monday, September 30. All that is required is a CV, artist’s statement and three images of your work. Head online to find out more at: https://tinyurl.com/3xza4daf
