The countdown to Christmas officially began this weekend as hundreds gathered in Farnham for a spectacular festive lights switch-on event.
On Saturday at Gostrey Meadow, the town’s Christmas lights were turned on by the mayor, town crier, and a special guest.
The event began at 1pm with Rowledge School starting the festivities, followed by performances by other schools, theatre companies and bands.
Gostrey Meadow was filled with families trying out funfair attractions while parents enjoyed mulled wine and other festive treats.
Also in attendance was a special guest from the North Pole—Santa Claus himself. He chatted with children about their Christmas wish lists and asked parents whether their kids had been naughty or nice this year.
The lights were switched on before a crowd of onlookers at 4.30pm by Farnham mayor Cllr Brodie Mauluka, special guest Farnham and Bordon MP Greg Stafford and Santa.
After the mayor performed the honours in illuminating the town he then tuned up to perform on the big stage with his band Brobed Stills.
