Three chatty women from Alton have a lot to talk about after a 205-mile cycle ride in memory of a loved one raised nearly £2,500 for a charity close to their hearts.
Sarah Quick, Emma Robertson and Angiolina Albertini - aka the Chatty Bimblers - recently cycled from Kent to Somerset in memory of the latter’s mother.
Sarah said: “Angiolina was originally keen to do the Italian version of the event, but after her mum was devastatingly diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2023, we decided to take on the UK based version of the event, instead.”
The trio cycled from the Isle of Sheppey to Weston-Super-Mare in the Chase The Sun challenge, getting on their bikes at sunrise by the Thames Estuary and finishing an hour after sunset.
Their original target was £1,500 for The Brain Tumour Charity but their freewheeling exploits have generated more than £2,463 and counting.
It was a gruelling challenge both physically and mentally but the trio were proud to reach the finish line on Weston seafront.
Emma said: “There were too many challenges faced including busy roads and surfaces especially in South London and climbing the Mendips, which were 180 miles in the ride.
“We also had to juggle food consumption even when we weren’t hungry.
“While we didn’t manage to beat the sun, we did make the finish line to celebrate on the pier with family and friends with chips and champagne.”
