A Farnham group has joined forces with the Weyfest team to help the festival become more green and save revellers money.
The popular festival returns to The Rural Life Museum in Tilford this week with the four-day event kicking off today (Thursday, August 15).
This year Farnham Cycle Campaign have worked with the festival to encourage more people to cycle to the event.
Weyfest is less than four miles from Farnham town centre and new secure cycle parking units are being installed next to the main entrance.
The car parking fee at Weyfest is £10 but the new cycle parking will be free and riders will have multiple routes. choose from. These include going through the Bourne Woods or along Old Frensham Road.
Peter Goodman from FCC said: “Ebike owners should make the journey in about 17 minutes which is probably less than most cars spend queuing to get out of the car park after each day's headline act finishes. Pushbike riders can easily walk up the few hills on the journey to and from Farnham.”
FCC have worked with the Sustainability Team at Waverley Borough Council which has supplied the cycle parking while the operations manager from the RLC has installed it.
FCC also has one e-bike available for free loan each day if anyone wants to experience the benefit of a motor when cycling uphill. Email booking requests can be sent to [email protected]
Weyfest has confirmed new headline acts adding to the current line up which includes the Lightning Seeds, The Feeling, Incognito, Kosheen, Lindisfarne, Turin Brakes, Hayseed Dixie. Dreadzone, Dub Pistols, Big Country and the festival favourites the Stereo MCs.
With four stages over four days, the full line up can be found on www.weyfest.co.uk but tickets are selling out fast.
