The hills will be alive with the sound of music this weekend as a village near Alton is warming up for a milestone festival.

The barrel will be well and truly rolled out in Selborne as the 20th annual Zig Zag Fest begins this Friday evening.

The beer, wine and music festival will be spread across three venues over two days with the action taking place in the village hall, Selborne Arms and Jubilee Tap.

A whopping 26 real ales, more than a dozen wines and at least one draft cider will be available with food being served at all venues over the two days.

The Tap Room will also offer the Gilbert White range of beers, plus wine, cocktails and a selection of snacks.

Friday night is rock night in the village hall with White Noise Machine, Cold Comforts and Chili Rage performing from 7.30pm.

Things will be quieter in the Selborne Arms with mellower sets from Bridestone from 8pm on Friday and Regular Belle from 9pm the following night.

Saturday is party day as the Zig Zag Band and Callum Granger will follow a day of live folk and acoustic music in the hall.

Their performances will follow sets from EMBIIAST, The Newtrons, Tray of Flans, Amy Lucas, Retrophonic Pete, Resurrectionists, Fate of the Magpie and Call Me Ishmael.

Advance tickets are available for £10 for a single evening or £18 for the whole weekend with the price including admission to the village hall, two drink tickets, a souvenir glass and festival guide.

Online sales close at 4pm on the opening day with on the day tickets costing £12 and £15 for Friday and Saturday, respectively.
