Government plans to scrap the Tory hospital programme may affect residents in the Farnham and Bordon constituency.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves has announced that Labour will be scrapping the programme to fix the “£22 billion black hole” left by the previous government.

The issue was brought up by MP Gregory Stafford, he said: “Residents in Farnham and Bordon will be concerned to hear about the scrapping of the new hospital programme, especially those living in the north of the constituency who are served by Frimley Park Hospital.

“Will the Chancellor confirm that work on RAAC-affected hospitals, like Frimley Park, will still go ahead? Will she tell us when we can have assurance on that so that we can reassure our constituents?”

Reeves responded: “Friend, the Health Secretary will meet all those with affected hospitals—including those affected by RAAC.

“To ensure that we can as quickly as possible address the challenges that his constituents and so many others now face because of the unfunded promises made by the previous government.”

Despite the Chancellor's lack of a definitive answer to whether the work will continue.

A Frimley Health NHS Trust spokesperson said: “The Trust has noted the Chancellor’s statement this week on the new hospital programme and that the government is undertaking this review while continuing to deliver the most advanced and most urgent hospitals to a realistic timeframe.

“We are working closely with our national and regional partners to understand more about what the review might mean for us.

“Our work to build a new Frimley Park Hospital will continue to progress at pace, alongside our ongoing RAAC maintenance works on the current site.”

Stafford and Surrey Heath MP Al Pinkerton, are following up to hear Health Secretary Wes Streeting’s answers on the matter.
