A green group is hitting the road in a bid to give clean power to the people of East Hampshire.
Energise South Downs will host a series of roadshows around East Hampshire over the summer to ascertain how the district could be feasibly powered by renewable energy.
Hopes are high the feedback gathered at the events will create space for an “informed and balanced” conversation about the type and scale of future energy infrastructure, and what is deemed acceptable by local communities.
The roadshows – supported by East Hampshire District Council and the South Downs National Park Authority – will begin next week with the first taking place from 7pm to 9.30pm next Wednesday, May 8, in Petersfield Festival Hall.
Further events will take place from the same time in Alton Community Centre on May 15, Liss village hall on June 19, Horndean Merchistoun Hall on June 26, and Clanfield Memorial Hall on September 30.
Cllr Robert Mocatta, EHDC portfolio holder for regeneration and place, said the events are an opportunity for local people to input into what they believe is feasible in their area.
“The workshop made me believe our Parish could do something that before I thought was impossible,” said a previous workshop attendee from Harting.
“It is vital we discuss these issues as a community because it seems that change will happen at grass roots level.”
