SPIRE Clare Park Hospital in Crondall welcomed members of the local healthcare community at the opening of a new, dedicated, high definition endoscopy suite named ‘The Taylor Endoscopy Unit’ on Wednesday last week.
Also attending the opening were the daughters of Andy Taylor, Sabrina and Katie who jointly performed the opening ceremony, cutting the ribbon with Louise Holbert, hospital director.
Andy, who was endoscopy lead at the hospital died suddenly in January 2016 and the suite being named after him is a fitting tribute as his energy and vision were instrumental factors in its development.
The new endoscopy suite provides rapid access to a range of out-patient and day-case procedures helping to diagnose and treat problems related to the digestive system, small and large bowel.
Investigations and procedures available include colonoscopies (for examination of the large bowel), flexible sigmoidoscopies (for the lower colon), gastroscopies (for the gullet, stomach and duodenum), flexible cystoscopy (for the bladder) and hysteroscopy (for the womb).
Hospital director Louise Holbert said: “This is an important landmark in the hospital’s 36-year history. The unit also ensures we are able to offer the most comprehensive private diagnostic facilities in the local area and look after the healthcare needs in our community and not necessarily just for private patients.”
