FARNHAM’S Downing Street GP surgery has signed up as a ‘parkrun practice’ – with staff taking to the trails of Alice Holt Forest for the first time last weekend.
Joe Morwood, the surgery’s registrar, said: “The benefits of exercise outdoors with others are numerous – not only for our physical health but also our mental and social health. Our body’s anatomy from our head to our toes has been designed to be active.
“At Downing Street Practice we are trying to practice what we preach by getting along to our local parkrun and last week was our first one.
“Some of us walked, some ran, some brought kids, others dogs, but we all had a great time and had a well-earned hot chocolate at the end. We have definitely decided there will be many more to come!”
There are several parkrun groups locally. Anyone, no matter what their age or ability, can register and attend for free at www.parkrun.org.uk/register/
