A HOLLYWOOD star who trod the boards in Steep has backed a plan by Petersfield Town Council to launch an award his name.

An outstanding young actor looks set to receive a letter from Daniel Day-Lewis and a complete set of the works of Shakespeare early next year.

But to nominate or not to nominate people for the award is the question that councillors were asking themselves last week.

The good news is that the presentation of the inaugural Daniel Day-Lewis Award to a budding young actor looks a certainty.
