PUPILS from Alton Infant School have provided a child’s eye view of what home means to them as part of a community initiative from Miller Homes Southern.

A place that feels cosy and warm, somewhere to spend time with family, and the smell of freshly-baked cakes were just some of the ideas the children, aged six and seven, came up with during the ‘Our House...The Place To Be’ project in which their responses were recorded for a short film.

Kim Willcock, sales director at Miller Homes Southern, said: “This has been such a fun project to work on because the children had so many lovely things to say.

“When asked to describe their dream bedroom, they had some really imaginative suggestions, ranging from a treehouse to a bright-coloured rainbow house. However, when it comes down to it, what they really seem to value is a home that feels safe and warm and is filled with the people they love – just like most adults.”

She added: “This project is an opportunity to celebrate all the things we love about home and the importance of belonging.”

Jayne Broach, headteacher at Alton Infant School, said: “The children were really excited to appear in a film and came up with some super ideas. They really loved seeing themselves on screen, and I know the parents are extremely proud.”
