TO mark Carers’ Week, Haslemere Hospital is holding a tea party for carers of patients who use the hospital’s services, on Wednesday.
The event is designed to give carers information on the support services available to them across Surrey through the “carers’ prescription”.
Sue Deane, community hospital matron for Virgin Care’s inpatient services, said: “We are committed to signing up as many carers for the carers’ prescription as possible and will have computers available at the tea party to enable us to register carers during the event.”
Virgin Care, which provides community services on behalf of the NHS in Surrey, also run the national support website – www.carersclub.co.uk – as a one-stop shop for information, news and guidance for carers.
Some seven million unpaid carers save the NHS around £119 million each year and 6,000 people become carers every day of the week.
