INSTEAD of the traditional Nativity play, pupils at Wootey Junior School in Alton this year staged a Christmas concert for parents and friends.

The festive concert, hedl over two days earlier this month, featued individual performers as well as the whole school singing traditional carols.

The concert was organised by music teacher Jacqui Austin and tea, coffee and mince pies were served during the performances. A collection was taken for the Salvation Army which raised £135.
