I would like to express my great thanks to Farnham Round Table at St Andrew's Infant School for their organisation of the Farnham Charity Bike Ride and sportive and for allowing us to have a presence on Castle Street for the event.
On the day we had a team of 16 riders, including our local MP Jeremy Hunt, all of whom were raising funds through sponsorship for the new Cancer and Surgical Innovation Campaign for the Royal Surrey Hospital. Thanks to all of them for their fantastic efforts.
As I write this the total raised for the campaign is more than £14,000 and still rising. Together with our other fundraising events over the past few months, and Jeremy’s two London Marathon fundraising, the hospital will have the equivalent funds to purchase a robot-controlled operating table which costs a staggering £95,000.
So well done all of our riders who covered 480 miles between them and thank you to all the readers who have contributed to Sunday’s event, our tombola at Saturday’s Bourne Show or any of our other fundraisers.
