St Matthew's Church in Blackmoor is holding its annual All Souls Service this Sunday, November 3, from 4pm.

We are keen to invite members of the public to list the names of their loved ones who have died over the past year and to attend.

It's the lesser known activity that follows the popular Hallowe'en excesses at the end of October, when the veil separating the Light and Dark worlds is said to be at its thinnest!

This is a service to enable everyone to remember the people you have lost and for a candle to be lit for each and every name that is read out.

It is a very beautiful service, lit by hundreds of candles which are placed around the altar, the pulpit, and down the steps to the choir. Please feel free to add names to the All Souls list when you arrive at the church, or pop in beforehand and have a look around.

Our beautiful peal of six bells will be ringing ahead of the service, so why not park up at 3.30pm and listen to this amazing heavy metal music? Refreshments will be served after the service, and all are welcome.

If you haven't visited us before, our location is: St Matthew's Church, Honey Lane (off Drift Road), Blackmoor GU33 6BS

St Matthew's is a stunning church building in the quaint village of Blackmoor. It was designed by the Victorian Architect Alfred Waterhouse in the Victorian Gothic Style, and we are very proud of it.

Our church clock, up in the Bell Tower, sounds Westminster chimes every quarter hour and strikes the hour on the heavy Tenor bell.

The majestic church is situated within the South Downs National Park, an area of outstanding beauty. If you haven't visited us before, why not pop in to our weekly Coffee & Cake Mornings, on Fridays from 10-12. Well behaved dogs are welcome!
