A school in Frensham has shown its class to Ofsted by getting top marks in a recent inspection.
Life is more than good at More House School – it’s outstanding according to the results of a boarding and welfare inspection in mid-December.
The school has retained the highest possible grading with inspectors casting their eye over residential arrangements, health & safety, safeguarding, staff and facilities during a thorough visit.
Despite well-publicised changes to the grading system, single-used word judgements are still being used by Ofsted during the current academic year.
And the report makes great reading for teachers, parents and students with inspectors giving the school an outstanding rating for overall experiences and progress of children and young people.
The school also received the same grade for how well children and young people are helped and protected, and for the effectiveness of leaders and managers.
“We were thrilled with the recent Ofsted inspection result as it reflects our aspirational environment we aim to provide for our residential pupils,” said Alexandra Rositano, deputy head and head of residential at More House School.
“We are extremely proud of our school and of the experience enjoyed by our boarders,” added headmaster, Jonathan Hetherington.
“We are delighted the inspectors highlight our strong sense of community, and that staff are highly invested in supporting pupils to make excellent progress with their education and independence.
“We are thrilled by the findings of the inspection and recognise the role of everyone in our More House School community in building such an empowering and transformative environment for the boys.”
The report says “boarding leaders are visible figures in the residential provision” with their presence resulting in a “strong understanding of its strengths and weaknesses.”
The report adds: “They are focused on ensuring that the pupils receive the best care and support possible.”
