THE Lions’ Easter Egg challenge has come to Haslemere this year, giving residents a chance to win both a large, high quality Easter Eggs and a fluffy lion toy.

Lions spokesman Tony Burke told The Herald: “The generosity of residents in respect of the winter fuel campaign Project Wenceslas – which raised more than £17,000 from residents in Farnham and Haslemere – has prompted Farnham Lions to extend our support for the air ambulance service this year by bringing the Easter Eggs appeal to Haslemere.

“We are very grateful for the support of the Mayor of Haslemere in launching the scheme and to Weyfest for its generous sponsorship of the Easter eggs, which means that every penny raised will go to the Kent Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance Service.”

Since 2007, Farnham Lions have been raising funds to support the airborne 999 emergency crews donating more than £57,000 so far.

The egg challenge idea is for people to give £1 to choose a name for the lion from a name board which is on display at pubs, hotels, hospitals, and doctors’ surgeries in the town. When the board is full, a draw is held and the lucky winner takes the egg and the lion.
